Parting with childhood

Parting with childhood

The painting Farewell to Childhood is filled with delicate emotion and soft metaphysical poetry. At its center is a girl in a white dress, floating in a stream of light. She appears to be both moving forward and vanishing — light, nearly transparent, like a fading memory. Surrounding her is a warm golden aura, within which we glimpse elements of a fairytale world — a castle, animals, and nature — symbols of childhood wonder.

The oval form of light around her emphasizes the figure, turning it into an icon of transition, a universal archetype of parting with innocence. The palette, built on soft ochre, white, and sandy tones, evokes a dreamlike atmosphere. The artist captures a moment where fantasy still lingers but begins to dissolve. This is not merely a genre scene, but a visual allegory of growing up, loss, and gentle remembrance.
