King of the yard

King of the yard

“The Yard King” is a painting in the spirit of naïve and abstract art, where a playful element coexists with symbolism. The composition is set against a bright yellow-golden background, reminiscent of a child’s map or a courtyard scheme. At the center is a stylized figure — the “king,” with a square blue torso and a small head, holding an attribute of power (a staff, broom, or scepter). The simplicity of forms and ironic style create the impression of a children’s game, while also introducing a metaphor: power here is depicted in a light, almost carnivalesque manner, as part of courtyard mythology.
