Lake on a field
“Lake in the Field” is a landscape built on the interplay of calm water and powerful, seemingly moving trees. The central accent of the painting is a group of large trees on the shore; their crowns, painted with dense strokes, convey the force of the wind and the eternal motion of nature. The water of the lake reflects the sky and the dark silhouettes of the trees, creating a soft contrast of light and shadow. A slight ripple can be discerned on the surface, enhancing the impression of a windy day. The sky, painted with cloudlike, rapid strokes, makes the composition vivid and dynamic. On the right side of the shore, white figures can be seen — perhaps a boat, perhaps a flock of birds — adding an additional sense of life to the work
