Liberation

Liberation

“Liberation” is a monumental painting dedicated to the tragic pages of World War II. In the foreground stands a Soviet soldier surrounded by concentration camp prisoners in striped uniforms. Their faces are emaciated and marked by suffering, yet filled with hope and gratitude. The central figure of a prisoner in a blue jacket touches the liberator with trembling tenderness, as if expressing the full depth of both pain and joy of the moment.

The artist employs a contrast of yellow and blue tones: the golden color of the soldier’s coat symbolizes light, life, and freedom, while the prisoners’ striped clothing alludes to darkness and suffering. The composition is structured so that the viewer perceives the density of the crowd, its unified soul turned toward the figure of the liberator
