Mourning for Polesjye

Mourning for Polesjye

The painting “Lament for Polesia” is executed in an expressive manner, with a composition built on powerful symbolism. At the center is an overturned bucket with water pouring down — a metaphor of loss, destruction, and grief. In the reflection, one can discern a human face looking from above and the branches of a tree against the sky, intensifying the sense of sorrow and the inevitability of time. Through simple objects, the artist conveys the tragedy of the native land’s fate.
