Mother
The sculpture “Mother” is executed in the tradition of monumental-realist portraiture, where the artistic image combines concreteness and symbolism. The head of a woman, covered with a simple kerchief, is carved from wood with the natural texture of the material preserved, enhancing the impression of harsh truth and earthly solidity. The face is stern and concentrated, with deep features reflecting experience, labor, and suffering. At the same time, the sculptor avoids excessive detail, allowing the texture of the wood and the generalization of form to convey the spiritual essence of the image. The woman is presented not as an individual portrait but as a collective symbol of motherhood, the destiny of the people, inner resilience, and moral strength. The work is imbued with respect for the common person, for their dignity and significance
