Descent of Holy Spirit. Mother of God. Stained-glass windows in the Blessed Virgin temple. Vladivostok.
The stained-glass cycle “Descent of the Holy Spirit. The Mother of God” in the Church of the Most Holy Theotokos in Vladivostok is a monumental-decorative work organically integrated into the architecture of the temple. The central composition is dedicated to the event of Pentecost: the figure of the Mother of God occupies the central place, surrounded by the apostles, above whose heads appear tongues of fire — the symbol of the descent of the Holy Spirit. The expressive color palette is based on the combination of radiant yellows, sky blues, and emerald tones, filling the stained-glass space with luminous energy. In the upper medallions are depictions of Christ and symbolic emblems — the sun and the cross — emphasizing the trinity of faith, sacrifice, and resurrection. The stained glass is structured according to the rhythm of elongated Gothic arches, which strengthens the impression of upward striving toward heaven. Light passing through the multicolored glass transforms the scene into a living mystery, drawing the faithful into the atmosphere of liturgical action
