Winter

Winter

The painting “Winter” is executed in a vivid expressive manner with elements of Cubism and decorative generalization. The composition is dominated by saturated cool tones — blues and light blues — which emphasize the winter atmosphere. The houses are depicted in red-brown shades, their forms deliberately simplified and deformed, giving the landscape both dynamism and symbolism. The contrasting red sky and strokes of warm colors evoke the impression of an approaching sunset or frosty glow, turning an ordinary winter scene into a metaphor of an inner state. The artist conveys not so much reality as its emotional and poetic experience.
