Still life

Still life

The painting “Still Life” is distinguished by decorative expressiveness and is built on a bold combination of color and form. The central object — a vase with red and white flowers — is depicted not so much in a realistic manner as in the style of decorative generalization. The blue color of the vessel contrasts with the golden-yellow background and the red elements of the chair, creating the impression of a tense color chord. The surface of the table is rendered as an ornamental mosaic, which enhances the decorative character of the composition. The flowers are treated conventionally; they resemble painterly signs more than botanically precise depictions, giving the work a symbolic and almost abstract quality. The artist seeks to emphasize the harmony of simple objects, elevating them to the level of an artistic symbol in which the traditions of folk decorative art merge with a modern pictorial language
