The winter chord. Gobelin
The tapestry “Winter Chord” is an example of the synthesis of decorative art and abstract painting. The composition is built on the alternation of contrasting color masses: deep dark-blue and brown tones with dazzling white and soft gray accents. This color rhythm evokes associations with a winter landscape — snowfall, whirling wind, creaking branches — yet the image is devoid of literal subject matter and instead acquires a musical-emotional resonance. The woven texture enhances the effect of vibration, turning the surface into a shimmering fabric where each stitch functions as part of the overall rhythm. The artist employs the language of symbolic signs, creating not a concrete winter landscape but its emotional equivalent. Thus, “Winter Chord” is perceived as a metaphor of harmony between nature and art, where winter resounds as a musical symphony of color and texture
