Petr Daneliya

Honored Artist of Belarus (1995). Born on January 23, 1920, in the city of Makhachkala (Dagestan). Studied at the Moscow Art School in Memory of 1905 (1938–1939). Participant of the Great Patriotic War. Works in the field of easel painting (lyrical and epic landscapes, portraits, genre scenes, still lifes), as well as in monumental and decorative painting, sculpture, and graphics. Has participated in art exhibitions and plein airs since 1945. Held several solo exhibitions in Minsk and Brest. One of the founders of the Brest Regional Organization of the Belarusian Union of Artists (1946). Chairman of the regional branch of the BUA (1957–1963, 1971–1977, 1992–1994). Led the art studio at the Regional House of Folk Art (1947–1967), Chief Artist of Brest (1961–1971). His works are held in major museums and art galleries of Belarus and Russia, as well as in private collections in Belarus and various European and CIS countries. Awarded the BUA Medal "For Merit in Visual Arts" (2000). Member of the Belarusian Union of Artists since 1947. Lives in Brest.
