Spring
The painting “Spring” conveys the moment of nature’s awakening, when remnants of snow and ice still remain, but the first living colors begin to emerge. The composition is built along a diagonal — from the foreground with shrubs and water, the viewer’s gaze is led toward the forest line and the grayish sky.
The artist employs a free, energetic brushstroke that creates the impression of wet ground, melting snow, and unstable spring light. The color palette is based on the contrast between cold gray-blue and warm ochre-reddish tones, enhancing the sense of nature’s transitional state.
A birch grove on the horizon, with its slender white trunks, establishes a vertical rhythm that balances the more chaotic brushwork of the foreground. Overall, the work is filled with freshness and the subtle anxiety of early spring.
