Relics of the poet
The painting “Poet’s Relics” is executed in the genre of symbolic still life, where objects acquire the meaning of signs of memory and cultural continuity. On the table are displayed an antique clock, a manuscript, a candlestick, two apples, and a pistol — items that together form an image of personal fate, creative path, and tragic drama. The presence of the weapon enhances the sense of a poet’s romantic fatal destiny, while the clock serves as a reminder of the relentless passage of time. The mirrored and transparent structure of the composition creates the effect of an overlay between reality and memory, as if the objects belong not so much to the material world as to the realm of remembrance. Behind the objects, in the depth of the scene, emerges a landscape with a house immersed in golden autumn light, linking the biographical and symbolic levels of the image. The artist seeks to convey not so much the texture of things as their spiritual essence: each element of the still life becomes a sign of fate, eternity, and cultural heritage
