Austrian companies propose cooperation with Yamal.

Austrians Offer Cooperation to Yamal

Austrians want to find partners in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. The Honorary Consulate of Austria in Yekaterinburg has proposed to a number of the region's enterprises that they consider the possibility of cooperation between companies. Previously Austrians did not have the opportunity to interact with companies of the Ural Federal District.
According to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, proposals from all Yamal companies interested in cooperating with Austrian investors will be collected by the end of August 2009.
Investors from Austria offer their assistance in the design and construction of logging enterprises, the production of lumber and construction materials from wood, and are also ready to participate in the construction of roads and in the preparation of tunnel and bridge projects.
The Republic of Austria is also ready to equip Ural energy facilities with the latest equipment. Austrians plan to participate in the construction of gas-fired thermal power plants, as well as to lay power lines from newly built power plants to mineral deposits.
Investors are ready to support healthcare enterprises as well. For example, it is planned to supply equipment for the production of pharmaceutical products. In the future it may be possible to establish medical centers in the Ural Federal District where comprehensive examinations and diagnostics will be carried out; Ural residents may also be referred to Austria for treatment.
Austrians could become partners and help organize the production of tempered glass, the production of glass partitions and other products from this material, the production of cement, thermal insulation materials, paints and coatings, metal roofing tiles, ceramic tiles, sanitary ware, building materials from recycled raw materials and many other materials.
Austrian technologies for the construction and maintenance of utility networks are rapidly developing and can be successfully applied in the Ural Federal District as well. To see how utility networks actually operate, foreign investors are expected to be handed several housing and communal services facilities in several towns of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. If the experiment is successful, this program will be applied in other settlements as well.
Moreover, the Republic of Austria is a leading center of the global tourism industry and is ready to help develop eco-tourism in Yamal.
The opening of Austrian banks in the territory of the Ural Federal District is also being considered as additional options, since the Austrian "Raiffeisenbank" already operates successfully in Yamal. Enterprises of the Ural industry will have the opportunity to take out loans at favorable interest rates and on favorable terms, as well as receive preferential loans from Austrian financial institutions backed by regional government guarantees.
It is worth noting that, as of the end of 2008, the trade turnover between Austria and the Ural Federal District amounted to about 5 billion rubles.
