Benefits of Italian ceramic tiles: durability, style, and high quality for interiors.
Properties of Italian Ceramic Tiles
When talking about the quality of ceramic tiles from Italy, the first thing to mention is their amazing strength and hardness. Even reinforced concrete and cement can’t match their strength under what’s called a “concentrated load.” In fact, the figure of 30,000 tons/m² — 10 to 20 times stronger than concrete — applies only if the tile is properly installed.
Even under maximum pressure at the joints, Italian ceramic tiles keep their shape and don’t bend. The thicker the tile, the stronger it is.
Thanks to their fire resistance, these tiles are great for covering fireplaces and stoves. They don’t release toxic fumes when heated, which makes them environmentally safe. Not only are they fireproof, they also protect the surface underneath.
Italian ceramic tiles also have great heat capacity and conduct heat well. That’s one more reason they’re used for fireplaces. On the floor, they’re ideal for hot climates. In colder areas, this may seem like a downside, but it’s easily solved — just install heated floors or wear house slippers.
Unlike many other finishes, Italian ceramic tiles don’t fade in sunlight — they keep their original color.
Ceramic tile is a dielectric, meaning it doesn’t conduct electricity, and it’s anti-static. You won’t get a static shock walking on it.
It’s resistant to most chemicals, except hydrofluoric acid.
One of the biggest advantages of Italian ceramic tiles is how hygienic they are. An antibacterial coating makes them safe for use in hospital operating rooms. As they say — cleanliness is health.
And of course, people have always loved ceramic tile for its beautiful look. That’s not going to change anytime soon.
