Stomach metastases — key signs and how to detect them early.

Stomach metastases - how to recognize

Almost all of us know how the stomach works. Here, chewed food is moistened with gastric secretions. The mucosa is responsible for producing gastric juice. It is in the mucosa that stomach cancer arises in most cases. From the mucosa the cancer spreads to other tissues and parts of the stomach and causes numerous stomach problems, worsening symptoms and discomfort.

It can often take a couple of years for stomach cancer to be diagnosed. At early stages, stomach problems such as bloating, gastritis, or frequent discomfort are often not recognized as cancer even after a visit to a specialist and thorough diagnostic testing.

From the stomach, cancer can enter other parts of the body by various routes. Cancer can affect the lymphatic system, or it can invade neighboring organs. In any case, if stomach cancer grows further, the prognosis for subsequent treatment of the cancer and the stomach becomes bleak.

When arising in the stomach, the disease can cause a variety of stomach problems and, via the bloodstream, reach the lungs, bones, and liver. In most cases the types of cancer cells that develop in the stomach are called adenocarcinomas. But besides these types, stomach cancer may also present as lymphomas, stromal tumors, and carcinoid tumors. These types of cancer that arise in the stomach are treatable and, fortunately, have more optimistic prognoses than adenocarcinomas.

The predisposing factors that can lead to stomach problems and may cause cancer are:
Poor diet – consuming smoked foods, pickled vegetables, salted fish and meat, and foods high in starch and low in fiber causes gastritis. Conversely, a diet rich in fiber, fresh fruits and vegetables greatly reduces the risk of stomach cancer.
Infectious diseases caused by bacteria (Helicobacter infection)
Tobacco and alcohol use, which double the risk of developing stomach cancer
Previous stomach surgeries
Stomach cancer tends to develop earlier in men
African Americans and Americans are more likely to develop stomach cancer than Europeans.
After age 50 the chance of developing stomach cancer increases several-fold
Heredity.

The main signs of this stomach disease — cancer — include weight loss, nausea, loss of appetite, increased acidity, abdominal enlargement, pale skin, pain and heaviness in the stomach, and bloody or non-bloody vomiting.
