Izmailovo Hotel

Today, hotels in Saint Petersburg and Moscow with large room capacities can accommodate thousands of tourists simultaneously, which makes them major tourist hubs.

The need to build large hotel complexes was already recognized in Soviet times, when Moscow was chosen to host the 1980 Olympic Games. The enormous influx of tourists from across the country and many parts of the world, as well as athletes, exceeded the total room capacity available in the capital. Therefore, it was decided to build a large facility like the Izmailovo Hotel, whose total room capacity was about 6,000 rooms.

The chosen site for its construction was not accidental – the hotel is located in the northeast of the capital, in a green area, in close proximity to Izmailovsky Park and its ponds. Athletes accommodated at Izmailovo could rest and prepare in a calm, relaxed environment.

Metro stations located just a few minutes' walk away allow guests to quickly reach the historic city center with its numerous attractions.

Its proximity to the All‑Russia Exhibition Centre (formerly VDNKh) makes this hotel complex very popular among participants of numerous exhibitions. For example, during the exhibition season, which takes place in early September, booking a room without a prior reservation is very difficult. Considering that business people come to the exhibitions, the complex's design included a spacious conference hall that could host industry conferences or symposia.

Today the Izmailovo hotel complex, consisting of five buildings, comprises four separate hotels: Izmailovo Alfa, Izmailovo Beta, Izmailovo Vega, and Izmailovo Gamma-Delta. After modernization, all the hotels meet international 3-star standards.

A convenient location in a green area and an optimal price/quality ratio still make the Izmailovo hotel complex popular among visitors to Moscow.
