Close contacts or a superficial acquaintance
Life abroad always seems like a fairy tale and completely different, free of inconveniences and full of comfort. Most often this is due to the purpose of the trip. A vacation or a business trip does not introduce you to all aspects of life, showing only the title page or a bright cover. If you want to write a long novel dedicated to another country, or simply want to escape the reality surrounding you in your home country, you can always move for an extended period to a small foreign town.
Such a trip, of course, will require significant expenses from you: payment for a hotel room in the USA, renting an apartment in Spain or buying a house in France.
In addition to the cost of accommodation itself, you'll have to spend on food, going out occasionally, and buying clothing or household items.
The most effective way to get to know the real life of a country is to buy or rent an apartment or a house. Keep in mind that less well-off people live in apartments, such as students or young specialists, while houses are owned by members of the middle class, doctors, or businesspeople. Therefore, to become closely acquainted with the life of particular social groups, you need to live like them.
The owner of a large house will most likely not be able to form a close friendship with the occupant of a small rented apartment, and vice versa. In any case, at first you will constantly find yourself in awkward situations; sometimes the differences between cultures of different countries are too great. But if you are firmly determined to become part of a particular country, you should not give up immediately.
If the real estate of Spain , Australia or Italy has attracted you with its comfort and warm climate, then the advantages of real estate in the Czech Republic, Scandinavia or Germany may be reliability and sturdiness.
In every country there is both high-quality housing and cheap housing intended for temporary residence during difficult periods of life, when a person cannot afford better accommodation.
After several months of living in a particular country you will realize that life there, in general, does not differ from life in your country, except for minor differences in climate or political system. Every country has its drawbacks as well as its advantages. And only by feeling the atmosphere yourself can you get an idea of the real standard of living of the population of a given country. But small differences can be a sufficient reason for a particular person to radically change their life.
