A book about Brest Fortress — key historical work for Russian-speaking readers.
A Book about the Fortress – for CIS Readers
Brest Fortress. War and Peace / Concept and text by L. Suvorov; Photos by A. Suvorov and others — B87, 2nd ed. — Brest; Poligrafika, 2012. — 256 pages: illustrations. The book “Brest Fortress. War and Peace,” published in 2010, was recognized by many critics as the best printed work about the Brest stronghold in the past fifty years. This opinion was confirmed by its market success – during a difficult time for book publishing, all 2,500 copies of the rather expensive edition were sold out in just six months.
Now, thanks to the support of the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS Member States (IFHC), a second edition has been released. Naturally, the attention of such an honorary sponsor is not accidental. Previously, the book “Brest Fortress. War and Peace” won the “Commonwealth” nomination at the 8th International “Art of the Book” contest of CIS countries, whose results were announced in Moscow last September. Thus, the Brest publishing house “Poligrafika” worthily represented the city and the country at the most prestigious book forum of the post-Soviet space.
It has already been decided that the book will also be presented at international book fairs in Germany and other European countries.
There is another important aspect to the reissue. In accordance with the publisher’s commitments to the IFHC, this historical bestseller from Brest will be distributed to national libraries of CIS countries, public organizations, etc. Thus, thanks to the CIS Humanitarian Cooperation Fund, one of the most prominent works about the legendary fortress will become accessible to a broad reading audience outside Belarus.
