Site SEO differences: Google, Yandex, and Rambler promotion tips.

On the differences between methods of promoting online resources in the search engines Google, Yandex, and Rambler.

Starting a conversation on this topic, it’s worth briefly explaining what "website promotion" is. Suppose you created an excellent resource with unique content. But since no one knows its URL and what it's "about", no one knows your site exists. It’s like opening an attractive supermarket in the Amazon that offers top-quality products at a good (inexpensive) price.

That’s why there is a service such as website promotion. This process can give your website visibility, with traffic in the hundreds, or even thousands and millions of people. The cost of such a "service" can amount to tens or even hundreds of thousands of rubles per month.

Of course, you may ask: can you promote a site on your own, without actions from an SEO agency? Generally speaking, yes. However, don’t assume that DIY promotion will be completely "free." Still, it will in any case cost you significantly less—sometimes by an order of magnitude—than if you turn to an SEO company.

Now let’s talk in more detail about methods of promoting a web resource.

The most popular method today is promoting sites in search engines. This type of optimization can take from a couple of months to several years, depending on how many visitors you would like to get to your website and how "competitive" your niche is. However, if we compare today’s search engine optimization methods with those from a couple of years ago, we realize they differ significantly, at least with regard to promotion in Yandex. This happened due to periodic changes in Yandex’s ranking algorithms over the past couple of years, especially over the last year.

Previously, it was possible to achieve better metrics and positions in Yandex within a couple of months even for a new, freshly created website—not to mention low-frequency queries that easily reached Yandex’s TOP within a month! Today, Yandex, still the most widespread search engine in Runet, imposes certain filters on a young resource recently added to its index, keeping it in the "sandbox" and preventing it from reaching high positions. That’s what a significant part of SEO specialists believe. In addition, methods that used to be effective have now lost strength, and a somewhat different approach has to be used. Simply put, try to apply a set of actions that gives newly appearing external links the most "natural" origin possible. Read the article Promotion in Yandex.

Rambler, however, is now losing popularity. It accounts for approximately 5 percent of all visitors coming from search engines in Runet. At the same time, promotion in Rambler differs from promotion in other search engines. A site page’s position will be determined by the number of pages linking to it, as well as the total number of outbound links on the linking page. Put simply, the more articles you buy with links to your site in their text, the closer to the top your site will appear in the search results.

Speaking of promotion in Google, the method here is to obtain external links on pages whose topic matches the topic of the page being linked to. It is important that the text of the linking page contains the same words or phrases that appear in the anchor text. Articles are excellent for these purposes, but you need to consider which online platforms you place them on. The weight of a link is also influenced by the PR (PageRank) of the linking page and the total number of external links. The text of neighboring links matters, what kind of sites they point to, and so on.

In addition to the above option, such as promoting sites in search engines, there is also advertising on high-traffic portals, contextual advertising, and advertising in newsletters. However, we will not go into detail about them in this publication, since all this is described in detail on the page website promotion and its methods
